Anthony-

Yes, ignorance is unfortunately an epidemic that we constantly find ourselves up against. While our most personally fulfilling moments are usually spent afield, we do need to take time to unite with fellow hunters on edifying and educational levels in addition to the all-too-fun (and priceless) swapping of hunting tales. Are your works available through Safari Press (SCI)?

I'm curious as to whether you referred to HSUS, PETA, and others to address how the hunter would respond to radical viewpoints without just saying "That's stupid" in frustration.

It's hard (and not credible) not to have an expansive reference pool. I like Swan's style. Especially fond of his "In Defense of Hunting." The motivations and drive of the hunter are so easily distorted. It can be disheartening. If we can somehow funnel the passion we share for the hunt into preserving the sport, our worst fears may indeed be allayed.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Hi Kimberly

Yes, there are sections in two chapters of the book which go into the motives of HSUS, PETA, and Eco-terrorist organizations too. I list their criminal acts (eco-terrorism from 1984-2002)in an addendum as well as expose the growing "business relationship" between eco-terrorists and animal rights groups.

The idea behind the book The New Age Hunter is that all of us hunters must go beyond engaging in the pure enjoyment of hunting and become educated about the realities of the interdependence between the hunter and the hunted (and become New Age Hunters) - from wildlife management, conservation, ecosystem (quality habitat), politics... - and address the ignorant and the "radical" viewpoints (as you said by not simply saying "that's stupid).

To answer your question about availability, the book is available through amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and from what I've been able to determine just about every .com retailer on the internet (even in other countrys). Books can be ordered at most retailers at the customer service desks (they probably won't have them in stock). I have also provided links on my website that take people directly to the publisher where the books can be purchased at a discount.

I noticed you are a writer for WomenHunters. I would be happy to send you a copy if you would like to review it for your organization. If you would like to review the book for WomenHunters feel free to email your full name and address to - [email protected].
