Default Help needed for a Kiwi (New Zealander)

Hello

I'm from NZ - we don't have in-line BP guns here in stock - we have all-year no licence deer hunting, so there's no special advantage so ergo, no imports of these weapons. I'm thinking of importing one myself.
I target shoot (currently a Kentucky style gun) and would be interested to hear from anyone who uses an Optima BP rifle, or similar for targets. How good are they at 50 yards?
Also - can you sucessfully use a cast lead conical without a sabot in them? I imagine because I'm at the bottom of the world, I would have trouble either getting sabots, or having to prop up the US economy if I did import some sabots!
Of general interest perhaps: In NZ there is a small following of blackpowder shooters in this country, mostly target and cowboy action but there are a few purist hunters who shoot red, sambur and fallow deer, elk, wild goat, wild pig using muzzleloaders for preference.

It would be good to hear from you - Sel
