Well 20 years of rifle hunting can't even guess how many deer I have had the good fortune to take home. But 3 years ago a friend of mine introduced me to the joys of blackpowder hunting! Last night I got to bag my first deer with the traditions .54 iron sights real blackpowder and a round ball. Now it was only a fawn but when the smoke cleared and it was laying on the ground I was shaking so badly I could hardly hold the patch to start a new ball. It did get up and run about 60 yards but I caught up with it 45 minutes later and to make this short tender loins for supper tonight. I hope I never lose that boyish excitement if I do I will quit!
