The liquid soap trick does work but DO NOT USE A PAPER TOWEL. Use a soft clean cotton cloth to wipe the soap off. The paper towel will scratch plastic lens (which most spectacles are made of nowadays). The scratches can ruin a pair of eyeglasses easily and quickly.
