Default RE: NY opener anyone score?

Had a nice opener.

Got in my stand good hour before sunrise. Bad thing was when I got to the ladder...I turned around at some shuffling leaves...you know the sound. My mini light revealed two set of eyes, and I could hear one already running away. Only 20 yards away.

So I hurried up the ladder, and stayed still. Im sure as you all know there is that time where you can just barely make out movement as shadows, just before sunrise. Well I could see them working their way back across my shooting lane heading to their bedding area.

Heard alot of shots, and saw no movement. Got to daydreaming a bit as one does time to time, and a small buck came in on the lane, but I did not react fast enough to take the only shot he presented me with. Won't do that again for a while.

Nothing came about until sunset, and had 7 does single file come into the woodlot, and went through my lane. I had enough time to see them all and pick out the biggest. She was third in line, and the first two were most definitly yearlings, and possibly button bucks. She ran for 200 yards, and had to track her. She lost alot of blood and was easy to track until she hit the harvested corn field. It had just been turned over. She was merely lying in an adjacent field, but had a 10 yd wide hedgerow in between. Boy that confused me. I just happened to guess to check it out and there she was. The field took up some water, which is what gave me the hard time tracking her, the blood would run downhill a bit throwing me off from her path. Darkness fell by the time I got back to the road.

Took forever to get her out. Had to get the wheeler out with an uncle, and we ended up rolling it with us and the deer on it. I am fairly sore, but the wheeler fell on to the ankle of my uncle. It is fairly swollen, but not broken.

Finally got her to the house, and gutted her (coyotes were yipping in the distance, so I wasnt going to stay there long...just get the deer and gut her at home)
