I had it happen while shooting at a doe last season, the screws pulled out of the threads on a Winchester 1300 slug gun. Scope and mounts came clear off with the screws still in their base holes. All I heard after the blast was the scope hitting the floor of the treestand.

The screws supplied with the factory bases were too short! Gunsmith drilled and retapped and we were good to go. Had to use a back up gun last year after the incident and yes I missed the Doe.
