Southerner's are more hospitable...or so I hear. I have never been north so I don't know. But if nothing else, warmer climates usually make people more friendly. Colder climates make people more irritable and less friendly all in all. Most southerners will talk to ya in a store, shake your hand, hold the doors, call each other maam/sir, etc.

I also don't really consider NC all that south...

When I think of "Southerner" I think, Mississippi, Bama, Arkansas, Lousiana, Georgia...

As far as I'm concerned, NC is way to close to Yankeeland to be griping over them being non-hospitable.
