This sounds like a GRAND excuse to buy another rifle instead!
Sounds like you need a Ruger Compact in either 260 Rem or 7mm-08 Rem. Never, and I mean NEVER mess with a rifle that shoots well unless you are prepared for disappointment because Murpy's Law will catch up to you sooner or later.
