depends on how far ur talking about, for long range shooting i use a 300 win mag, people say its to much for deer, i dont see whats so bad about overkill.
They're not the one's who have to gut 'em after a 40 yard shot with that thing so why should they complain...hehe!
I'm with 1dahunter.... .50cal BMG! Just make sure the hill behind the deer is thick enough to stop that sucker!
No, seriously, if it kills it and you can shoot it I don't see what's so bad about overkill either. On the other hand if you develope a bad case of "magnum flinch" then you should rethink you're caliber.
