Default Horrible Hunting Conditions - Good Buck

Well, unfortunately, I have not been able to spend my normal amount of time in the deer woods. I have been working in Florida for the past three months due to the Hurricanes.

Finally, last week I was able to get away and go to one of my favorite hunting spots in North Central Oklahoma. I had four days to hunt and the weather was horrible. I had south winds for the first two days of my hunt with highs in the 70's and north winds for the last two days of my hunt with highs in the 50's with 30 mph winds. It made for a pretty miserable hunt.

Nonetheless, I was able to get lucky enough to have been located on my favorite tree stand when a hot doe brought this guy right in front of me. I shot him quartering away (top of liver, one lung and heart shot) at twenty yards. He ran only 40 yards before dropping within sight. The coolest part was that he fell within five feet of the buck I shot last year, from the same tree.

He weighed in at 185 lbs., was 4 1/2 years old and scored 138-4/8" Gross (with a missing eye guard that had been broken off).
