Well, the early season has come and gone here in Nebraska and I had a disappointing season in the aspect of bagging a buck, but it was satisfying to be out and see the number of large bucks that I saw. The prognosis for many of them making it through the season and being even bigger next year is good as well. A piece of property next to us that was hunted heavy in rifle season two years ago does not look like it is being hunted at all this season. It wasn't hunted heavy last year either and the number of large bucks I saw this year may be a testament to that.

However, the big boys eluded me this year. I still have the late season, but we're in the rifle season right now and I won't have a chance to get back in the woods until the second weekend after Thanksgiving. There are a couple of nice ones running around right now, but I don't know if they will be after the rut.
