RE: Official Team ">>>---Passthru--->" (19)
A little update on my hunting:
Went out late on Wednesday because it was pouring rain. It stopped and so I made my way to the stand at 7:30. Saw the eight point I passed up on Sunday coming out of the woodlot below my grandparents house. He is a decent buck about 14 inch spread G2's about 4-5 inches and G3's about 2 inches. He is very symetrical and will be nice next year if he makes it through the rest of the seasons ahead. Well upon going into my stand the deer were moving like crazy. I kicked up a 8 inch spike and saw a couple of other little ones on the way in. To keep a long story short, as luck would have it I chose to sit the wrong stand. It started to rain again at 8:30 so I decided to pack it up and head home to spend time with my wife and kids. I got back to where I parked and took a little practice session with all my hunting gear on. After shooting a few arrows I walked to the back of my truck and looked in the cutting to my left. BUSTED!!! There was a 10 pointer standing there at 35-40 yards staring right at me. I pulled an arrow from the quiver and hoped he would just continue on following the does ahead of him but before I could even nock the arrow he turned and trotted off. No flag was raised and he kept stoping and looking back every once in a while. I just wached him dissappear into the woods. He was about 17-18 inches wide and looked like he had 6-8 inch G2's 4-5 inch G3's and 2-3 inch G4's. A great buck for our area!! He had nice chocolate antlers with polished tips. Got a good look at him but really wish I could have got a shot. Oh well something to look forward too!!!
After he trotted away I started getting pissed at myself for not sitting my tractor road stand and staying through the rain. I know bucks move a lot after a rain but I didn't tuff it out and I didn't choose the right stand. He was heading right down the cutting behind some does and that would have put him right past my stand. Not saying I would have got a shot but who knows. I guess that is why they call it hunting!!!!
Went out this morning and saw a bunch of does and a couple of horny spikes. One of the spikes was doing the lip curl which was pretty cool. He went on to chase a doe and made his way back later to try it again. I am getting a lot of action but no shooters yet. I still have time!!!
