RE: Louisiana Hunters?
Timbercruiser, you could use the common melts, or fish head, but lots of bait will attract them. I fish dem crawdads all the time. If you are using traps, I like the funnel traps with my float marker. They were hitting real good down here in the Marepas area. Season is gone now though. If you are using nets and fishing the swamps like I do, make you about a 12 foot conduit pole with a bend on the end. Have you a round hamper tied around your neck or sitting in your pirouge, and just pick them up. Let the net just slide right down your conduit pole and tip the crawdads in the hamper. Works great for me. If they are hitting hard, you got to run them nets, cause they will sure tear up the bait. I never tried it but an ole friend of mine tells me he gets cow neck, cause it is hard to tear up like melts and fish heads. I like catching and giving to the family and then keep a sack for my family. It is totally fun to say the least and great eating with good old cold Dixie beer. I have an inboard motor pirouge that gets me all over the swamp.

Got a question about catching crawfish. Here in N.W. FL crawfish boils are becoming more popular with all of them coming from La. What kind of trap and bait do ya'll use? I know some places that hold a lot of big crawfish, but nobody I know tries to catch them.
