Default 150 grain Failsafe for deer?

Hello, I've got a question for you guys...

A local store has winchester Failsafe ammuniton for 11.99, which I'm assuming is a good price. Would a 150 grain failsafe in 30-06 be too much bullet for a southern whitetail?
I've read they are generally used on bigger game, but the box said 150's had rapid expansion on medium sized animals such as the whitetail...whats your opinion?
