First off let me say I totally agree with the strings from a competition stand point but I am having "good" results with my stock strings on my Xtec. Not great but good.It isn't a matter of material but rather thyy are built is the problem.D-75 is a great material but has to be put together right.Serving is the key.
My 03 Ultra and my 04 X shoot almost identical speeds.At 28 1/2 draw, I am getting 270 fps at 56#'s with 324 gr arrows.Not too bad.
I have already seen some one post they were getting 308 fps with the new 05 Ultra at 29 1/2".
I had one of the first Protecs and loved the bow but balance was an issue.Hope this new one lives up to the billing.
I tend to agree with you that they probably had a bunch of leftover Xtec risers and were needing to phase them out so they bump the price of the Vtec and when the X's are gone, they will be done.
I tend to think they are trying to get people to step up to the Pro so they can see for themselves the difference a deflex riser makes.
I agree that parallel limb bows shoot smoother, they almost have too(because of the design). My problem with them is the drastic reflex of most of them. They need the reflex to get speed and/or a harsh draw force curve, both of which I personally hate. They give them 8" brace and then put 2" reflex on them, offsetting the brace.I am anxious to see and feel the new cam design Bowtech has.The Constitution with the Equalizer cam system looks promising but what are they going to do if there is cam lean.
