RE: lines....
Just a little tip to all you .....cough cough......"Conventional" type fishing guys!!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>( I was one a LONG LONG time ago.)
Take a hint from us Flyfishermen.....if you don't want to waste a ton of that precious Fireline etc.......then fill half of your spool up with heavy Crap line or some flyline backing........then connect your good expensive line to this with an "Arbor", or "Blood" knot.
Do you ever use the bottom half of the line on any given spool??......
All you have to do is retie a new section of good line onto this "Backing" whenever you need to.
All the line on the bottom of your spool is , is expensive an space filler.
Where one spool of this expensive line might have only filled one or two reels......it can now fill maybe as many as 3-4, to 5..who knows????
