Default RE: New Stand On Our Land & Its Not Ours!!!

I am in the same stuation, but on the opposite side. Let me explain.

We have a camp (25 yrs.) on 20 ac. and when I started bowhunting we put up some "portable" stands (wooden ladder stands). There are ~30 ac. of land between us and the next camp. That land (~5 parcels) has been basically "abandoned" for most of those 25 years and we have hunted it over all of those years. We have 2 stands on this land. Over this summer it appeared that someone ad bought a the chunk of land with the stands on it or the owners were going to do something with it (they actually cleared of a corner of our property mistakenly - thats a whole nother story!). We have been waiting to see the owners some weekend and talk to them about the stands & if it was ok to leave them and still hunt and the whole clearing thing. Anyway, we have never seen them and have continued as normal. They had thier property surveyed (guess they should've done that before they cleared our land!!). This weekend there are posted signs on the property. I stayed off. Now we need to conact the owner and find out if we can hunt and/or let him know that we are willing to take down the stands if need be (we would be more than happy to leave them for the owners if we can have access to them as well

We are pretty level headed, normal folks. Were we in the wrong?? How would you handle this situation (from both perspectives) I like that most reponses here have said to contact the "offender" and try to reach an understanding. That is really what we want to do.
