We call these guys gluttons and they are, for they sit in the same area and harvest away till time runs out. You say that we don't do our part, but if AL tags were allocated more intelligently, we would be glad to participate.
Alt calls those gluttons resposible hunters who are doing their part to manage the herd by using bonus tags for their intended purpose ,to reduce the herd. Your group on the other hand ,would be described as armchair biologists who think they know more than the professionals and establish their own goals based on their personal preferences rather than on what's best for the herd.
It really doesn't matter how doe tags are allocated when the herd in 2B is at 30 DPSM and the goal is 10 DPSM. The PGC's only choice is to saturate the area with anterless tags so that those that choose to manage the herd get enough tags to get the job done. Otherwise the PGC will bring in sharpshooters.
For me to take these deer would not do a thing to alleviate the overpopulation in an area that I don't hunt that is far away. I have nothing against hunting for the meat, and a family could well use several deer a year for food, but what I see some doing is just extreme
So you want to save the deer in your area even though it's 3 times the goal OWDD and you use the excuse that killing more deer in 2 B won't help reduce the herd in say 2F.? Well you are right ,but Alt doesn't expect every hunter to hunt in every WMU and they distribute the hunters by alloting more anterless tags where they want the most deer killed ,so 2B is a prime target.
If the deerhunters really cared about controlling the herd, they would work harder and wait longer to take an animal that would really count in that regard. And maybe they would have to take less overall and make a better opportunity for everyone concerned.
Saving BB means passing on 46% of the anterless deer which means it will be impossible to harvest enough doe to control the herd and last years anterless harvest proved that point beyond a doubt.
The bottomline is you don't support Alt's plan, you don't support the OWDD gaols and you don't want to do your part to control the herd . All you want is the best opportunity to harvest a racked buck with the least amoint of effort.
