RE: Rewiew your hunting "set-up"
Guns - Marlin 336 w/ 150 grain bullets (Winchester or Remington). No scope, just open sights. Not glamourus, but will kill deer, even when the shot is not nice and clean. If I am hunting specifically for deer, I will have this gun with me.
Browning A-Bolt Composite Stalker .223 w/ 3-9x40 Nikon Buckmaster scope. Hornady 40 grain V-Max Moly. Kills coyotes and other critters dead out to a couple hundred yards. Only drawback is the shot must be clean. A twig or broomweed will cause the bullets to expand prematurely. The coyote will lose a lot of hair, but that's about it.
Clothing - Wranglers, western shirt. Not picky here.
Boots - Wolverines.
Camoflauge - Cabela's Leafy-wear. Great stuff. I can get really close when stalking and get away with a great deal more movement since my outline is broken up. Only drawback is that it hangs on catclaw and other brush, so I go without it if I have to walk through much.
Jacket - Remington 4-in-1 Parka. All my other jackets are Carhart brown. I would hate to be mistaken for a deer by someone that is a good shot, but just a little trigger happy.
Knife - Buck Selector
Calls - Old sheds for rattling.
Scent - Acorn and smoke if I feel like it.
Camera - Pentax 35mm with 120-300 zoom lens and tripod. Shot a lot more stuff with this than either gun. I prefer Kodak 400 speed film, since most of my shooting is in low light.
Forgot to throw in binoculars - Swarovski SLC 10x42. From the hills I can scan for miles, passing the time until the deer arrive. I can also spot them and try to move to intercept them.
