Default RE: Some BIG Texas bucks

No I dont have a deer lease. I normally hunt on my ranch, on a friends ranch, and/or I buy package deer hunts on various ranches in the area.

There are some guys who will sell deer hunts on their lease as a way of recouping some of the money that it cost to get on the lease in the first place, but it really varies from lease to lease and depends on the landowner/wildlife manager more then anything. But they normally will only allow you to kill cull/management bucks because most of the time each lease member is only allowed one trophy buck each year and their not about to give that right to somebody else.

If your wanting to get on a lease the price various quite a bit depending on what part of the state the lease is in. For example your most expensive leases are going to be in south Texas along the mexico border and/or along the gulf coast. In this area paying $5,000 for a single spot during deer season is very normal and most of the time your only allowed to kill 1 buck. On the other hand leases in east Texas are probably the cheapest in the state, in that area they generally are only a couple hundred $bucks$.

There are also a ton of ranches in the state that sell day hunts. Which means you pay a flat daily fee with no additional fees. So for $500 you can hunt for 5 days on a ranch that offers you a good chance at a nice buck.

There are really alot of options, you just have to do alittle research. You can spend anywhere from $50 a year to hunt public land all the way up to $20,000 for a 7 day trophy buck hunt on one of the large private ranches in the area. Theres alot of good hunting out there, and not all of it cost an arm & a leg. Good luck to you this season.
