I had something similar happen to me on a buddies piece of property a few years back. My buddy told me that I could hunt his 40 acres one weekend that he couldn't make it, A very secluded place. So I arrived at about 1:00 in the morning and knew where I wanted to hunt so I decided that I would take my climber, and set it up in the tree so I wouldn't have to do it in the morning. Of course it's pitch black except for my little flashlight and as I'm walking back out of the woods I push up a Partridge that is about 2 feet away from me and let out the same girly scream I'm sure you did. My heart went from about 70 beats to about 200 in a split second. After I realize I didn't die from a heat attack I couldn't help but laugh at the scream I let out in the woods over that damned bird. I know your pain brother. lol
