My Nosler reloading manual shows the 300 Win Mag with the 180 grain bullet at 3160 fps. It shows the Ultra-mag with the saome bullet at 3229. thats just not worth the extra powder and cost of brass and or ammo. A beast would never know the difference. The Sierra manual shows just 100 fps more velocity with the 200 grain bullet for the 300 Ultra. This 100 fps second comes at the cost of 15-25 grains more powder. The difference just isn't there.
