I have coon hunted for many years. All I have ever done is tape a maglite on my 22. I use an inexpensive marlin for coon hunting. I don't want to scratch an expensive gun. I then use Duct tape to attatch the light to the underside. I use a 4 d cell mag. Then the light will illuminate where ever you are pointing the rifle. Kind of hill billy-ish, but it works, and it's cheap.
