I have this same rifle, and I tested several different factory loads with it. By far the best groups in my rifle using factory loads came from Remington's 165 grain CoreLokts. These grouped right around an inch and a quarter at 100 yards, some better, a very few slightly worse. I was pretty amazed at this level of accuracy from an out-of-box rifle and factory loads.
None of the Winchester loadings that I tried grouped that well at all, usually around 2" to 3". These were in 150 and 165 grain loadings. The Remington 150s and Remington 180s were better than the Winchesters but not as good as the 165s.
I now use Remington 165 brain bullets in my handloads for this rifle and the groups are usuall an inch or better. I will be trying these out on hogs in a couple of months.
Best thing for you to do ifg you don't handload is to buy different brands in different bullt weights and see which combo your particular rifle likes best.
ANY of these loads would bring your deer down just fine.

I have recently purchased a Remington 700 bdl ss in 30-06 and am wondering if anyone else has this same model and what factory rounds are best suited for whitetail and make for a decent group. I have been shooting the winchester superX 165g soft point and the groupings are ok but not near as good as the groupings i shoot with my .308 with factory ammo.
