Default RE: anyone jig for crappies?

All the time! Tube jigs are my top producers, chartruse is probably my favorite color. There is not set colors that work everywhere! You need to experiment with colors on each body of water. What might be a hot ticket one day, may not the next day. Sometimes if the crappie bite is slow, changing colors will make a huge difference. I carry Three Plano tackle boxes (the slim clear ones) loaded with a huge amount of different color tube jigs, and a huge amount of colored heads (I make my own jig heads, so the more the better). I also make many other crappie jigs, in various styles and colors that produce. Best places to jigs for crappie is in heavy fallen timber! The thicker the better! Here is pic of a crappie, I caught early season a bunch of years ago. The lake iced out a week before, I tipped my tube with a minnow, which is a good trick for cold water. As the water warms up, plain old jig will work better!
