Default RE: 10 yard pin

Generally the impact difference between a 10 & 20 yd pin is not very much. This will also depend on your poundage and arrow speed. My girlfriend is only pulling low-30# range, so she has a 10,20,and 30 pin. The difference between a 10 & 20 yd pin was not nearly enough to warrant another pin for my setup.

The impact differences between a 10 and 20 yd pin will also depend on your individual setup: you anchor point, peep height, and sight bar length.

You have your line of sight to target, arrow trajectory to target, and the arrow launch position in releation to you eye. It's good to know these values- try shooting at a target 3yds away and you'll see what I mean. You'll most likely have to use a longer range pin to hit a target that close. The apex of the sight/trajectory curve is usually (depends on the individual) 10-12 yds. When you get closer than that, you start needing to use longer range pins because of the difference between line of sight and arrow launch trajectory.

It's good to know where you need to aim for those real short distance shots- you may be surprised at what you find!
