Default RE: Ghillie Suits

Oh yeah!!!! I love using homemade ghillie suits. Where you hunt there are certain colors and types of natural cover. you can make your suit to fit where u hunt. I have been able to stand up with a buck less than ten yards away, full broadside, and he didnt even raise his tail. I am able to go to a spot that looks good and blend right in no prob. It also scares the hell out of the dog. I like to start with mesh camo, can get in any hunting store, get the one with the little holes and tabs. This should cover your whole body almost front to back. From here you can cut holdes to fit your head or arms, what ever coverage you want. This type works well when you are in a tree stand or sitting on the ground. Standing it burrs out your shape and when sitting lays over you and totally covers your shape. You are also able move your hands inside the suit without any outer movement visible. From here you can add different types of cloth of what ever color you need and sew or tie them to the big sheet. For the head you should the same camo but in smaller pieces. You can wrap the leafy camo sheets around your head and face, this works good in a bandana style over the mouth and neck and a hat with mesh camo placed over it and sewn onto the hat. This darkens your eyes. There is nothing better than having deer walk right next to you and not even know you are there. This happened many times with my homemade suit. use your imaganation and test it out with a friend. Also where reg cam underneath suit. Hope this helps
