Friday was the opener for Keowee WMA in upstate SC. I was setup on an awesome trail that looked more like a cowpath. My wife read an article in one of my hunting magazines that said you should always take a cell phone in case of some emergency. So reluctantly I agreed to take one. It was a new phone and I had it on vibrate but didn't know it wasn't totally silent when a text message came in

. Anyways, wouldn't you know at right at 7:00 a big doe walked out at 30 yards and stopped right in the middle of my shooting lane. Just as I picked up my bow, and clipped on, the darn phone started going off. The doe looked straight up at me and started to stomp her foot. I froze. A moment later it started beeping again. I guess this was too much for her and she took off...needless to say I almost threw it out after her. When I got home we had a heart to heart about not texting me right at "primetime"...oh well, maybe next time...
