I had to chuckle a little bit because I understand the frustration of squirrels and rabbits in the garden. I have never owned a Ruger 10/22 but I have had other semiauto 22's that I fed subvelocity 22 ammo for, single shot, for just the same reason. Sometimes they would eject after firing, sometimes I would have to manually pull the bolt back. Perhaps I have had some damn noisy air rifles as a kid, but a 22 CB round in a 22 rifle seemed to make less noise to me than an air rifle.
