RE: ProActive or ReActive?
FF & Hoyt, you guys answer these things better than I can.
This class is the result of a lot of requests. Many strongly, some loudly, over the time since the hc's became no money in the National Triple Crown.
For clarification, we brought the hc's in for a transitional, gentler, new guy, fun sort of class.
It was never intended to require a 420 to win or place.
But having said that, it has been successful even with the scores being shot at top.
But there have always been many of the higher scoring shooters that want to shoot for money with the hc equipment. They have been very vocal in this desire.
Now we have the MHC for them.
Here is a bit of the yardage problem for the hc's at this time. We look at arrow impacts in the targets from the major events. Combining this with the scores lets us have an idea of target longevity.
At this point in the HC (before mhc) we are looking at over 80 % of impacts in a three inch circle. This results in great scores. This small footprint of impacts is not a problem for us at the national events.
It is a big problem at the local club. The success of the HC at local shoots is better than 60% of the local guys are shooting it. If you put those two numbers together you can easily see the problem for your local club.
That is the dilema. We want you to shoot well and have a good score. We want the new shooters to learn better skills. We want to keep the experienced archer playing the game.
We hope this class can create a better balance of those goals.
As Fastfletch replied, we do not want to force shooters to change classes any more than is absolutely neccessary. NO one likes that very much.
We now have the MHC and hope that the new class will relieve some of the load from HC.
Only time will tell.
