I have always wanted a big lever action gun. Last spring I bought a marlin 1985, not the short guide gun, but the original. And man do I love it.

Something just feels good about racking a lever action on a gun that you could almost fit your pinky finger down the barrel of. It definately has a thump when you shoot it, but if you are used to shooting 3006, then it won't be to big of a deal. If you had only shot .22's, then yeah it would kick more than you might expect.
