Did some scouting last weekend on private 2500 acres I hunt. Talked with my buddy who owns the place and he forgot to tell me they planted corn down on the south side of the swamp! what!!!! and he also stated their not going to cut it! Cool! Since none of them bowhunt it is all mine to hunt. I snuck in last weekend and looked at it and it had deer spelled all over it. In the picture you will see that it butts up on the west side(center of picture) to another property that I can't hunt. It has a fence between the 2 and a cut corn field is in plain view from my side of the fence. The yellow squares are potential stand sites. If I hunt the funnel in between the 2 fields should I set my stand 75 yards back in the timber next to the fence or move out closer to the uncut cornfield? I think if I setup back in the timber I can catch bucks staging between the 2 fields. Now on the other side(east) of cornfield is a excellent bedding area with a logging trail cut through the middle. The problem with hunting this side of the field is getting to it and out of it without getting busted. By the way, the levee(with a hog wire fence) that runs along the river, my buddy spotted a 12 point here 2 weeks ago heading down the levee traveling east to the corn field. I could setup a stand there and intercept them coming down the levee. Decisions! Decisions! That's what I love about bowhunting!! Any suggestions from the pros? thanks
