Amen to that. You hear it with almost any caliber if your listening for it which I always do. I like to know if the bullet hit the animal just in case it does not go down in its tracks. The big slower heavy bullets and the light fast bullets both do the job when shot placement is correct. However the big heavy bullets are more forgiving of less than perfect shot placement. IN MY OPINION. This battle of speed VS Bullet weight and size has raged on forever. Weatherby's Idea was WHY NOT BOTH. You can't go wrong with that therory but shot placement will always be the determing factor. My idea has always been to use a weapon with enough ME or TKO to do the job but it has to be within one ability to place the shot with such a weapon. A good hit with a 260-270 is more effective by far than a poor placed shot with a 460 Weatherby. I used bigger guns when my shoulder was in shape to handle it. With the bad shoulder I have had to scale down the recoil in order to place my shots where I want them. If and when I can no longer place my shots, I will hand my guns down to the kids and go along and watch.

Good Hunting.
