Big, wide, heavy bullets have a way of doing that....
Not very sexy, but real "thumping" ability....

Since they aren't usually travelling at hyper-velocity often the shooter can actually hear his own bullet's impact, K-thump, like hitting the pommel of a saddle with a five pound sledge with a full "overhand" swing --- it is a heart warming sound to a hunter and devastating to game. The British figured this out in Africa at the turn of the last century.
