I agree that it shouldn't have made that much difference, but it appears that it did. My educated guess is that there is a difference in weight and/or drag between the two so it effectively changed the tune of the bow. Because there is usually less speed loss with Leeches I would have to say it makes your arrows act more limber now. Because your arrows maybe bending more coming out of the bow that might account for the type of tear you were getting.
