I hunt every year with a friend who uses a 300mag on white tail and he has never dropped adeer on the spot, we are always tracking his deer. He gets em in the boiler room every time but the bullet just passes through with little or no expansion. I have shot two deer in the last two years both with a SKS and dropped em on the spot with shots in the boiler room. My friend thinks the reason is because of the power of the 300 mag.
