I know the area pretty well, so I generally set up where they travel to and from the roost. I call sparingly, and rely on ambush mostly. I got good tom this way last fall. I really like the rain as they head into open fields and you can get away with more noise and movement. Also, in the fall you can shoot one of either sex, so the odds go way up. I personally haven't taken a hen as there are plenty of gobblers in my neck of the woods.
I have a buddy who relies on scattering the flock and waiting for them to reform. He's had some limited success, but I've yet to try this method.
