How did you come about it?
Finding that area / tree to hunt from? Well, I was looking for a fall flocks roost and happened upon a small flat of white oaks. The ridge behind was carved up by 3 trails that funnel down from the flat. I scouted the ridge to a small stream which led out to a logging road, all but grown shut. A super way in, but a long hike. Any other route and you'd bump deer from the fields bordered by a powerline. The deer used this in the AM to head to bedding areas below the ridge.

I found the wind never seemed good for a PM hunt. I located a long since gone wooden fixed stand that had been on the brow of that same ridge, not far from the little oak flat. The sign was good, as was the terrain and I find that old stands were placed there for good reason. That spot was one that few would effort the walk. Perfect.

Since then, it's since been purchased and posted. The only thing I can do is remember good hunts I had there. A nice typical 8 pointer looks at me as I type this, arrowed from the same ridge. I have filled many a tag there and had a great time.

BTW: That's an awesome story Jollyarcher.
Thanks Jimbo... I recall those events often. I can still see the shot and how she dashed off. She went down within sight, no tracking required. It is one of my most memorable hunts.
