The Hornet is a fun little popper. But I will stray from the rest of these guys. I'm going to assume you don't handload, and around here, .22 Hornet shell cost about a buck a shot. Fifty bucks for fifty rounds. The .22 mag is about ten bucks for fifty rounds. With the right bullet, namely the 50 grain hollow point from Federal, or 33 grain V-max from Remington can and will kill a coyote at 100 yards. Been there, done that. The .22 mag will also be a little more pleasant on squirrels and rabbits. Plus you can buy a piss load of shells and give a prairie dog town hell, all the while having a big old smile on your face!
