RE: What to expect using a minimal powder load?
I have the same situation with my wife. At the range this past weekend I sighted in a T/C White Mountain Carbine 50 cal with 320 gr REAL bullets and 70 gr pyrodex. It shot very well at 50. Where I'll hunt with her, that will be about as far as she will shoot. I know the load has enough power, and the recoil is manageable, but not what I would call light.
If a person is recoil sensitive, I would recommend a moderate load, and installation of a limbsaver recoil pad. They have slip-on models too. They are supposed to cut recoil by 50%.
