Default RE: 17Cal Dewey Rod

Hi BC & trailer:

I use the Dewey 36" .17 for my .204 and it works like a charm. I have a Ruger Compact, with a 20" barrel. I have not had any problems with flexibility. I ordered mine from Midway, and it came with a jag taped to the rod that has to be .20, I can't imagine you could fit the included jag through a .17 with a patch on it. It is the only one-piece rod I could find, but works very well. The only problem I have had is cutting patches small enough to fit down the bore. The best results I have had were from Tipton .35 cal/20 guage patches cut into quarters.

Good luck.

P.S. I don't think the Dewey rod would work for .22. The threads for the jags are not compatible. You might be able to fit a "loop" tip for .17 and use a larger patch, but that wouldn't be my choice.
