I just got a linemans harness this year and boy what a difference. It's so nice to have your hands free to work. I tie a rope to the chain of the stand and pull it up, put it in place and use a ratchet strap around the stand to hold it in place while I connect the chain. Then I use the ratchet strap at the bottom of the stand to hold the bottom to the tree so it doesn't give me the slip.

I've heard of people using their climbers to get up the tree, then pulling the stand up, setting and then placing steps in the tree on the way down.
