RE: HUNTER CLASS IDEAS
This thread has gone on now for 16 pages now and I still don't think that we have an agreement on what needs to be done for the hunter class or if indeed there is a problem. Keith and many others has some good points and I am sure that some of the shooters that are shooting in the hunter class at the big IBO shoots are former MBR and MBO shooters that have moved down to hunter class. There is no rule against this and as long as there equipment is legal then that is their choice. As far as clubs having there targets shot up then they need to regroup and charge accordingly to replace them as needed. We are all adults here and we all can choose the class that we want to compete in. I shot the IBO
southern triple crown this year and the world shoots at Snowshoe for the first time ever. I did not win any of them but learned a lot along the way. I have never been so nervous as I was on my first three targets at world. It was all I could do to pull my bow back and try to hit the targets. You will never get some people to join the IBO or get them out to shoot 3D tournaments no matter what classes they have orwhat they can win. All we can do is invite them out and hope that they will show up. I agree with the idea of givng them a reduced entry fee for their first time shooting in an IBO shoot but beyond that they have to shoot the same 40 targets that I do and have the same opurtunities to win as everyone else
does. I have kept up with this thread from day one and I would love to see some good changes come from it. I do not see though how we are going to achieve it at the way we are going about it. We can't seem to agree on what the hunter class needs or if we need to move some of them up to MBO or where. It would not be fair to make them move up as long as they want to shoot under the hunter class setup. Even though I did not win this year, I had a lot of fun and met some really terrific people along the way. I finished in the top half of the hunter class at every shoot I went to and that was a good goal for me to achieve. I will be back for 2005 and hope that I can make some of the northern triple crown shoots as well as the southern triple crown. Good luck this hunting season and I look forward to seeing many of you in Wetumpka, Alabama next year for the first leg of the southern triple crown!
