I am not a big fan of semi-auto big bores, but my father had a couple and got rid of both of them, just not the accuracy he was expecting, you also end up with a relatively long gun due to the action.

If that is not a concern, I would look at Benellis and Brownings semi-auto version, I have heard a lot of good stuff about them, they also seem to be comparably priced with the Remington.
