I know what you mean. I've had one done up for me...(don't have the know-how or tools) and I could have bought a pretty nice rifle from a quality maunfacturer, and I'm not talking the bargain gun of the litter either. I have the willingness to learn and wouldn't mind trying it out on a few of the project swedes and 98's I've got in the cabinets. I'd be real interested in seeing your pictures when you get around to it, and also very interested in how the A&B barrel works out. I'm considering shopping for a Savage 110 with a burned out barrel and rough wooden stock and buying one of those packages that includes the barrle, the go-no-go gauges, the barrel wrench and what you need to do the swap. If I find the right beat up Savage in 30/06 or 270 I could have a wide variety of A&B calibers to choose from.....35 Whelen, 25/06, 270, or 30/06 in the package, and the 338/06 in the barrel. I'm not sure if any of the other A&B barrels would fit with the bolt face and magzine follower of the 30/06 but maybe a few others would work without swapping other parts.
