I have done this for geese. Break the corn stalk right above the ears and bend it down in the first 2 rows. This will give you an opening to shoot out and make it more dense low so the deer can't see your movement. Also make sure you can draw without making noise (dry corn can be noisy). I have never tried it for deer but I hope to plant some corn some day and then I will give it a try. I would think it would work very nicely. Good luck with it.
