RE: kinda off the subject
I've had The Outdoor Channel for about a year now, and have been disappointed with the quality of the shows. I'm seeing the same shows that were aired previously several times.
Most of the new shows coming on seem like advertisements more than hunting shows. The thing that really gets me stirred up is Paid Advertisements throughout the day. I'm didn't get my subscription to watch an ad for the ab energizer plus or sexual enhancers. They jacked up their rates for shows to buy airtime this year by 40% as well. The shows don't have much of a choice but to cater to their sponsors now.
There are still some great shows out there however. I try to just watch them for the hunting, even though it is obvious they are edited beyond recognition of the original hunt. I look forward to shows like Hunting in God's Country to come back on in July. Eastmans Hunting Journal is good, but I've seen the same shows now about 3 or 4 times each!
All in all though, I'm happy there is a channel out there that shows hunting and outdoors more than 1 or 2 hours per week. I think a certain standard should be used on the show however. I do know that TOC edits some material off shows before airing them, so it's not a free for all out there.
