I remember seeing an article by Sam Fadala where he advocated loading 190 grain RN bullets designed for the .303 Savage in the .30/30. He thought very highly of the penetration abilities of it. I have loaded 200 grain cast bullets at fairly low velocities, and have never had a problem with stability.
