I built this stand with 1" square tubing, 1"x1" angle iron, conduit, and steel mesh for the base. I secure it with 2 1000lbs ratchet straps and use climbing sticks to reach it. It's very quiet and stable and cost about 25 bucks to build. It took about 2-3 hours to design, cut and weld.
I just bought a TIG welder and my next one will be aluminum. The one shown weighs 21lbs. Oh yeah, I put a pine board for a seat on it, bolted to seat frame with long self tapping machine screws.
