I hunt birds (doves) with a 20 bore flinter, and it's kinda tough not carrying it primed. Muzzle control is the key, keep it pointing in a safe direction. BTW, an UNPRIMED flinter can still fire. If you are unlucky, sparks can flash thru the vent and fire the main charge, without priming.
